Dissolving the Centre

In the Light and Sound understanding, after Enlightenment the centre is dissolved, or more accurately, it can no longer be found.

This does not mean that the body disappears, the mind stops working, or ordinary human life comes to an end. It means that the false inner point of ownership — the sense of a separate “me” located somewhere inside — has gone.

The Loss of the Separate Centre

Before Enlightenment, most people feel themselves to be centred somewhere within the body or mind. There is usually a subtle sense of being “in here,” looking out at a world “out there.”

This inner position may not be consciously examined, but it forms the basis of ordinary individuality. It is the place from which life seems to be owned, judged, defended, desired, and feared.

In deeper spiritual language, this is not the true Self. It is the egoic centre: the inward knot that says: “I am here, separate from everything else.”

What Dissolves

When Enlightenment takes place, this separate centre is broken open. The seeker loses the sense of self as a separate individual. The drop returns to the ocean.

On returning from that State, the old centre should be missing. It is not simply that the person has had a powerful experience, or has entered a refined state of peace. Something more fundamental has occurred.

The one who was seeking has disappeared.

There is no longer a little throne inside from which a separate self rules. There is no fixed inner owner standing apart from life. The false locator — the sense of being a separate being inside the body — can no longer be found.

What Remains

This does not mean that the Enlightened person becomes unable to function.

The body remains. The mind remains. Memory remains. Speech, thought, movement, relationship, and practical action remain.

The person may still eat, walk, speak, teach, laugh, remember, and respond to the needs of daily life. The human vehicle continues. But the inner relationship to that vehicle has changed completely.

The egoic centre is gone.

The functional human being remains.

This is an important distinction. Enlightenment does not destroy the practical human mechanism. It removes the illusion that there is a separate self standing behind it, owning it, controlling it, and being divided from the Whole.

Returning to Ordinary Life

While the Enlightened person remains in a physical body, there has to be some return to mind and senses. Without this return, ordinary life could not continue.

But the return is not a return to the old separation.

The Enlightened person comes back, but from a different perspective. Life is still seen, heard, felt, and lived. The world still appears. The body still moves through time and space. Yet inwardly, the old sense of being a separate individual “inside” has been fundamentally broken.

Everything may look the same outwardly, but the one who once claimed ownership is no longer there in the same way.

Everything Is the Same, Yet Everything Is Different

One way of expressing this is to say that everything is the same as before, but “you” are not there.

The trees are still trees. The body is still the body. Other people still appear as other people. The world continues in its familiar form.

But the myth of individuality has gone.

There may still be faint movements of personality, habit, thought, or emotional response. Worldly life may sometimes seem to re-create a slight trace of individuality. But meditation, stillness, and remembrance dissolve this again, revealing the deeper truth that was seen in Enlightenment.

The centre that has gone is not consciousness itself. It is not Love. It is not life. It is only the false centre of separation.

Unity, Love, and No Separation

In the Light and Sound understanding, a person is not called Enlightened merely because they have had an extraordinary inner experience.

The loss of the separate centre must also be accompanied by Unity, no separation, Love, and the direct realisation that All is One.

Without these, the experience may be profound, beautiful, or transformative, but it may not yet be full Enlightenment.

Enlightenment is not simply the absence of ego. It is the revelation of Reality. The centre disappears because separation itself is seen through. What remains is not emptiness in a negative sense, but a living unity beyond the old division between self and world.

In Essence

● After Enlightenment, the egoic centre is dissolved, or can no longer be found.

● What disappears is the false point of ownership: the sense of a separate “me” inside.

● The body, mind, memory, emotions, and practical human functions remain.

● The Enlightened person returns to ordinary life, but not from the old perspective of separation.

● True Enlightenment includes Unity, Love, no separation, and the realisation that All is One.

So the answer is yes: the centre is dissolved, but the vehicles remain.

What disappears is not consciousness, not life, and not Love. What disappears is the separate self-centre — the inward knot that once claimed to stand apart from the Whole.
